I wish...

Soo I'm gonna be going to college in about 6 months or so, in a place where summer is cold and windy, and winter is... well let's just not even discuss that. Anyways, it struck me today that all of my clothes are either summer clothes or mild-weather clothes, with which I just wear a light jacket when it's cold. Then I realized that a big portion of my clothes are actually clothes that I bought in middle school or my earlier years of high school. My point is: I decided today that I wish I could go on a massive shopping spree for college. There are so many things I'm going to need for when I move, plus I just think it's time to get a new wardrobe. I know this sounds selfish and spoiled... but oh well. Soon, it's these daydreams that will keep me goin. I want/need: LOTS more jeans; boots; button-up shirts; a new bathing suit; skirts and dresses (cute ones... not the professional-type ones I bought for Girls State last summer); hats!; cute shirts; coats and jackets; shorts (it won't be cold all the time); and whatever else I can possibly find on sale.

Ugh... I need to be friends with a filthy rich person that is absolutely swept away by my wit, charm, and class and feels the need to buy my friendship. That'd be fine with me.

The Burritoes Have Gone

Chelsea, Chanelle, Carley, and me just bein our Regulatin' selves.

Last night was our very last home basketball game of the year, and therefore... my last home basketball game of my high school career. It was also the last time I will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" with X-Press at a Kanab High School sports event. (As far as I'm aware. We don't sing at baseball games, do we?) Sad deal. Well, the game was a boys game against Millard (ohhh the irony...), and it was absolutely incredible. For one thing, I borrowed my friend's saxophone when the pep band started playing "Burritoes To Go" (literally my favorite song ever) and I got to play the solo part for the last time. I cried. I miss pep band sooo much, and I really miss that song. Anyways, I also had a ton of fun in the Rowdy Crowd. I was pretty irate at first, because there was absolutely NO room on the first two rows, due to 3 random girls from Fredonia that decided to invade our black-out Rowdy Crowd with their blue sweaters. I was sorely tempted to shove them off and say "Guess what, this is my senior night, make room for me." But I didn't, because I do have a heart. Fortunately though, a freshman that i'm on StudCo with took the initiative to grab some other underclassmen and move to a different row to let me stand there. Thanks, Jessika. Way to be considerate. (:

Now as for the game. At first, I thought it was going to be a close one... but I was badly mistaken. We took the lead, and never let the Eagles even get close enough to smell it. Somewhere in the middle of the game, Rendon texted me and asked me to tell him how the game went. So I took this picture and sent it to him saying "I'm not rubbing it in. I'm just sayin..."

After the game was also pretty emotional. Usually for senior night, the seniors go out on the floor before the game, where they are presented with their gifts (usually a cake with their name & jersey number, some flowers for their moms, a blanket with their name and jersey number embroidered on it, and some kind of a poster/picture thing with an action shot of them.), then the game happens. But for some reason, it was different this year. After the game, that's when all of the seniors went out on the floor. Then Mr. Luce (the head coach) went on to "bear his testimony", as he put it. He began talking about how his very first year of teaching at KHS was when we were freshmen, and he actually catches himself saying things like "Remember when we were sophomores..." as if he was one of us. And in reality, he kind of is. Anyways, he was just bawling the whole time, along with all of the seniors (on and off the basketball team). Chanelle and I went up to Rhees afterwards and gave him a hug, but we could tell he was extemely sad. Basketball is Rhees's specialty (even though he's a champion at like every sport there is), so he was pretty justified in his tears.
Chanelle and I with Rhees after the game. Poor guy... we kind of forced him to look happy for the picture. haha

After everyone kind of dispersed, Chanelle and I went to her house to go wash our faces and get ready for our Girls Night at Chelsea's house. See, all of us ("us" being me, Carley, Chelsea, Chanelle, and Brianna) have been having a rough time in our own ways lately, mostly in the boy area of our lives. Particularly me and Chanelle, whose boyfriend just went into the MTC this past Wednesday. This being so, we all felt a requirement for a Girls Night. We got to Chelsea's, changed into our jammies, and then realized we had none treats! Soooo we all piled into Chanelle's car at like 11:30 at night and went to Stage Stop in our pajamas to purchase some tasty things. When we came back, we created a giant bed, then proceeded to watch multiple episodes of "Project Runway", "Who's Line Is It Anyway?", and "The Office."

Chanelle, Chelsea, Carley, and Brianna in the process of devouring Rolos, Rips, Chicken In A Biscuit and Squeez Cheez, Coca-Cola, and Mountain Dew Code Red.

We ended up staying up until like 3 am watching these shows... then I got to get up at 6:45 to shower and get ready for work. /: Hurray for work and making money! Anyways, my point is that although there were a lot of tears and emotions involved with this day, it was still a pretty great one.

Chemistry Adventures!

We all know I struggle somethin fierce when it comes to keeping my chemistry grade up. I don’t really understand about 75% of the material, and I am awful at testing. But I’m not going to lie to you and say that I absolutely hate Chemistry, because I don’t. I might have a severe, passionate dislike for the actual science, but as for the class… well we have some good times in there. I don’t know if it’s the combination of certain people we have in there, or if it’s my teachers personality (easygoing, but not a pushover), but something about that class makes the atmosphere fun, if not the work. We have fun conversations and good times on our everlasting journey to draw the perfect star. (We can all thank John for that one.) I’m now going to share with you some of my favorite 5th Period Chemistry moments. I know a lot of them are “You had to be there” moments, but just go with it for now.

The class is learning about how, when writing down chemical compounds, the cations go before the anions. There is a slide on the projector screen that explains this, and the class is reading it silently.

Holland: Mrs. Titus, what does “per-say-dees” mean?
Mrs. Titus: What?
Holland: Right there on the third line, right before the words “the anion”, it says “per-say-dees.”
*awkward silence*
Mrs. Titus: Holland, I believe that says “precedes.”

The class is suggesting to Mrs. Titus that we conduct an experiment involving pure sodium and water. (Extremely reactive… if you didn’t know.) Obviously, she’s not having any of it.

Cody: Come on, we’d have an awesome explosion. We could even name it.
Mrs. Titus: Ha yeah, we could name it Big Bertha.
Chase: Hey, John’s grandma is named Bertha.
John: What the… Chase, my grandmother’s name is Barbara.

The class is discussing Mrs. Titus’s 9-year-old son who is destined to become a genius, seeing as how his father is a paleontologist and his mother and his father’s parents are all chemists.

John: Mrs. Titus, you just need him to get into some sports. Get him into football.
Mrs. Titus: Yeah we tried that, but he’s got asthma, so he’s not so sure he likes it.
Chase: Well John has asthma, but he plays football and basketball!
Mrs. Titus [to John]: Really? You do? Maybe--
John: No. I don’t have asthma. Chase apparently likes to make up stories about me for some reason.

The class is learning about converting elements in grams to moles (or something like that) with an example from the book about tricycles. I.E., the composition of a trike would be FSP2HW3 (Frame, Seat, 2 pedals, Handles, and 3 Wheels). The question is “How many wheels would be needed to make 219 tricycles?”

Mrs. Titus: So you’ve got your pedals, and you times them by three pedals over one tricycle, and then divide and cross cancel blah blah blah etcetera etcetera. (Obviously, I didn’t really follow this part.)
Me and Cody: Well… why don’t we just multiply three wheels by 219 tricycles? Wouldn’t that be much simpler than a big long equation?
Mrs. Titus: Well you guys, this is pretty straightforward.
Class: Baffled silence, and then... laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh Good one, Mrs. Titus. Good one.

The class is in the lab. We are working with copper chloride, which is extremely dangerous to have in contact with your skin.

Mrs. Titus: Hey you guys, make sure you do not get any of this copper chloride on your hands okay? If you do, make sure you run straight to the rinser in the corner.
John (who had been slightly distracted): Wait, what aren't we supposed to get on our hands?
Mrs. Titus: Yeah, don’t get it on your hands.
Entire class: ………………….?

We have fun in Chemistry.

Funny business.

Yesterday, we had voting for Student Choices. I voted for myself for Senior Girl Class Clown. Why? Because in all reality, no one else can crack me up like I can.

See? Even this post is funny to me. Ha.
